The
Annual General Meeting
of the N.F.R.B.A. will be held on Tuesday 15th June 2010
at Pfizers Sports and Social Centre, Sandwich. Formal notice will be
issued nearer the date and any proposals for changes to our Rules
and discussion items for the agenda have to be circulated at that
time - so any such matters should be sent to me by 20th
May.
It was agreed at the last AGM that the agenda for this year would
include a proposal to introduce
Rally Point Scoring for
senior league matches – probably with limited or no discussion on
the matter – just a vote. Please make sure that your club
representative is aware of the feelings of your club members so they
may vote accordingly. There is a further contribution to the debate
on our website from Edward Strilesky of Kings who strongly supports
a move to RPS. At the start of the season I asked clubs to let me
know how their members felt about the issue so we could assess the
strength of feeling amongst the players themselves. I haven’t had
much of a response. Even if you do not produce detailed statistics
perhaps you could say whether there is strong feeling for or against
or many who don’t know or care.
As
usual the league trophies
will be presented at the AGM. Please make certain that any trophies
held by your club are returned in time for this to be done and that
representatives of winning teams attend. It would be very helpful to
have trophies back early enough to be engraved with this year’s
winners before the AGM. Reminder - last year’s league winners were:
Premier Phoenix
Mixed 1 Kings Road
Mixed 2 Apollo (Canterbury)
Mixed 3 Invicta/Pilgrims
Mixed 4 Church Street |
Mens 1 Rovers
Mens 2 Invicta/Pilgrims
Mens 3 Westgate |

Both
Senior and Junior Inter-Regional Events
are being held locally at the University again this year:
Seniors
Saturday 10th April
Juniors Sunday 11th April
These events feature teams from the eight or so regions in Kent and
include both singles and doubles matches. There should be some very good
quality badminton on view on both days – starting around 10.00am. Please
make sure that your club members know of these events and if possible
turn up to support the North Foreland teams. Let us know if you have
players in your club who you think should be considered for our teams.
Please
make a note in your diary to ensure that your club is represented at the
meeting and bring along your ideas.

PS – we
are looking for someone to take over from John Mulford and his team who
have been running Falcons Juniors in Faversham for some years.
