NORTH FORELAND REGIONAL BADMINTON ASSOCIATION

At the AGM it was proposed that clubs share information and comments about the shuttles they use by completing a survey.

This has now been completed and the following compiled from the clubs feedback.

NFRBA Clubs - Shuttle Information - Autumn 2008

Club: Ajax

Shuttles: RSL - 78

Cost: £8.00

Use per match: 2 tubes

Comments: happy with the way they play.

Club: Apollo (Ashford)

Shuttles: Yonex AS30 - 78 equivalent

Cost: £11.49 (07/08 price - expect more now)

Use per match: 18 - 24 shuttles

Comments: none.

Club: Betteshanger

Shuttles: DSS Apollo - 79

Cost: £8.57

Use per match: 9/10 shuttles (mixed) - 3/4 shuttles (ladies)

Comments: have tried others but no significant difference noted and these OK for us. Some comments made about variation in speed. Use match discards on club night so only 2/3 new ones needed.

Club: Falcons Juniors

Shuttles: DSS Apollo - 78

Cost: £8.23

Use per match: 2 tubes

Comments: haven’t tried other makes. Cold hall can affect speed and cause frequent broken feathers.

Club: Hartsdown Park

Shuttles: Currently experimenting

Cost: vary

Comments: current best looks to be Head Air Power 60 @ £9.40. Might use red Ashaway for juniors/beginners @ £7

Club: Kings Road

Shuttles: Magnum (from Yehlex - BE scheme) - 78

Cost: £11.50 for 25 dozen +

Use per match: 2 tubes

Comments: unlike some others we have previously used we find that match ‘rejects’ can be used on club night so need to use few new shuttles outside matches.

Club: Minster

Shuttles: DSS Stella - 80

Cost: £11.95

Use per match: 2 tubes

Comments: have experienced some problems - supplier provided replacements.

Club: Pfizer

Shuttles: DSS Apollo - 78

Cost: £8.57

Use per match: 2 tubes

Comments: plan to try other makes in the future. No general complaints though sometimes feathers seem to break very easily.

Club: Rovers

Shuttles: Snowpeak

Cost: around £11.00

Use per match: 18 shuttles

Comments: none

Club: Westgate

Shuttles: DSS Apollo - 79

Cost: £7.29

Use per match: uncertain

Comments: have stayed with these for many years. Used shuttles OK for some club night play.
